About the Initiative on Integration of Physical and Mental Health Services for People with Serious Mental Illness Initiative goal To understand and improve the physical health and health care of racial/ethnic minorities with serious mental illness [SMI]. To achieve these goals, our work focuses on three areas: Detecting physical health and health care disparities. Understanding determinants of disparities at the patient, provider, and system levels. Developing culturally appropriate interventions to eliminate racial and ethnic health and health care disparities among people with SMI.
