Implementing Health Care Intervention for Hispanics with Serious Mental Illness

About the Implementing Health Care Intervention for Hispanics with Serious Mental Illness Project

Project Objectives

This study uses a collaborative intervention planning framework that blends principles of community-based participatory research (CBPR) and intervention mapping to modify and assess the feasibility and acceptability of an existing health care manager intervention for outpatient public mental health clinics using social workers. The aims of this health care manager intervention is to improve the physical health of Hispanics with serious mental illness and at risk for cardiovascular disease. We are also developing implementation strategies that can help facilitate the use of this innovative health care manager program in other public mental health clinics. . This project is being supported in part by a grant from National Institutes of Mental Health (K01 MH091118, PI: Cabassa).
